How To Get The Most Out Of The Salicylic Acid Cleanser

23.02.2023 | Skincare

From being featured in Glamour magazine and The New York Post to receiving over 450 reviews and counting, there’s a reason why there’s major buzz on our Salicylic Acid Cleanser. Serving as step one to a routine dedicated to targeting breakouts, our Salicylic Acid Cleanser is great for cleansing the skin while reducing the appearance of blackheads and breakouts and promoting a more even-looking complexion.

Below, we dive into the best ways to get the most out of this fan-fave cleanser.

WHEN SHOULD I USE SALICYLIC ACID CLEANSER?

This should sit as step one in your routine and serve as your everyday cleanser. The formula is gentle enough to use daily and we recommend using it every morning and night.

HOW DO I APPLY IT?

Take a small raspberry-sized amount of the Salicylic Acid Cleanser and gently massage onto dampened face and neck for at least 60 seconds, then rinse thoroughly. Pro tip: use our Reusable Cleansing Pads to help maximize your cleanse, rinse, and remove the cleanser.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT THIS CLEANSER?

For starters, it’s not just for your face! You can actually use the Salicylic Acid Cleanser on other blemish-prone areas too, such as the back, chest area, and arms.

It can also be used as a part of a double cleansing routine. It can be implemented as the second step in a double cleanse, after removing makeup/SPF. If you’re looking to get into double cleansing, we recommend pairing the Salicylic Acid Cleanser with our Oat Cleansing Balm, which can be used to melt away makeup and SPF.

It's also safe to use on the eye area and effectively helps remove eye makeup. Apply some of the cleanser onto a damp cotton pad (our Reusable Cleansing Pads are perfect for this) and lightly press onto closed eyes/eyelashes for a little while before wiping off.

ANYTHING ELSE I CAN USE THIS CLEANSER WITH?

Totally! You can use any INKEY product with this cleanser and it’s safe to use alongside Retinols, Vitamin C, and all types of exfoliating acids too. This is because although this cleanser is a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) since it’s in a cleanser formula, it only stays on your skin for a short amount of time. Make sure to do a quick patch test before layering with other products to be on the safe side, especially if your skin is sensitive–more on that here.

Additionally, as mentioned above, we definitely recommend pairing this cleanser with our Reusable Cleansing Pads to maximize your cleanse.

Lastly, follow your cleanser with Hyaluronic Acid Serum for a boost of hydration.

WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO SEE RESULTS?

Although after using the Salicylic Acid Cleanser, your skin will be immediately cleansed, products can take up to six weeks to show long-term results. This is due to the time it takes for your skin cells to turnover and the results of any products to reach the surface. Consistency is key, so apply regularly even if you’re not seeing the effects immediately. It can be extremely tempting to increase the use/dose of some products to gain quicker results, but don't overdo it! More is not necessarily more, and overuse can cause irritation and sensitivity. We dive more into depth about how much product should be used in our blog post here.
