Acne 101

What is acne?

Acne is a very common concern that impacts most people at some point in thier life. Acne forms when the hair follicle holes in the skin become blocked by excess sebum and old cells. From here they can develop into different types of spots.

Common types of acne:

Blackheads (open comedones)

Small bumps with black or yellowish tone. Their colour comes when these bumps open causing oxidation.

Whiteheads (closed comedones)

These bumps are similar to blackheads, but they remain closed, keeping them from oxidizing and therefore appear white in colour.

These are formed when surrounding skin tissues become inflamed through damage or infection often from a ruptured comedone.

These are typically much larger in size and filled with pus. These can often be more painful as the immune system is reacting causing inflammation.

Real skin. Real stories.

Elisha before acne treatment

Hi, I'm Elisha!
"My skin type is sensitive and combination. I have only recently started experiencing breakouts and before starting my skincare journey I tried to hide all my spots with makeup. After starting my journey, I couldn’t believe how quickly I saw results. The Salicylic Acid Cleanser was my favourite product as it cleared my skin but didn’t leave it feeling dry. I’ve learnt that a good skincare routine is key and to have patience to see results."

Hi, I’m Seth!
"My skin type is oily. I’ve had acne for about 10 years and it has impacted my self- confidence a lot. This is the first time I have ever had a skincare routine and since starting my journey, I have experienced purging but I know that this means the new ingredients are working. With knowledge and a consistent routine, I finally feel in control of my skin and more confident."

Hi, I’m Romi!
"I have sensitive and breakout prone skin. I had acne in my teens, it went away and has since come back. Since starting my skincare journey, I have seen a huge improvement in my skin texture and hyperpigmentation. I am feeling content that I have finally found ingredients that work for my sensitive skin and I haven’t had a breakout since!"
